Located at Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery and the connecting National Portrait Gallery each exhibit some of the most impressive artwork in London. The National Gallery was founded in 1824 and, among other art objects, houses more than 2,000 paintings created by some of the greatest artists to ever live, including da Vinci, Botticelli, Monet, Michelangelo, van Gogh, Rembrandt and others. Artwork is chronologically displayed throughout the museum, beginning with in a separate building called the Sainsbury Wing, and then back through the main building in the West, North, and East Wings. A gift shop is also available.
